Intro to Business Planning and Access to Capital

Starting a new, or growing an existing, business requires thought and planning to make sure you reach your goals. A well thought out business plan helps you think objectively about the key elements of your business venture and informs your decision-making on a regular basis. There are several different business plan forms you can use, depending upon your goals and whether you plan to share it with anyone, such as an investor or lender.

State Labor Law and Payroll Tax Seminar

Presented by the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement

You will receive information on:

  • Recordkeeping, reporting requirements, employer obligations, and payment requirements.

  • Common wage and hour law application.

  • Employer and employee rights and responsibilities.

  • How to distinguish between an employee and an independent contractor.

Business Startup Workshop

Sponsored by The City of Seaside - Seaside Creates, this workshop will help you:

  • Identify the steps and resources you need to successfully start a business;
  • Be more organized;
  • Generate new ideas;  
  • Determine your readiness to take on a new business venture; and
  • Access tools and resources to assist you in lauching your new business.

Changes that affect your business in 2019

Beginning January 2019, there have been some new developments in employment regulations:

Minimum Wage Change

Employers with 26 or more employees will have a minimum wage of $12 per hour.  Those with less than 26 employees the rate will be $11 per hour.  Please note that an increase in the minimum wage also affects salaried employees.  The minimum pay for a salaried worker must be at least twice the Stateminimum wage.
