Celebrating America's Entrepreneurship Ecosystem with National Entrepreneurship Week!

National Entrepreneurship Week is a non-partisan, congressionally chartered initiative founded in 2006 that takes place the third week of February annually. #NatlEshipWeek is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurship across the United States. The annual initiative was relaunched in 2017 at NatlEshipWeek to bring together a network of partners from Maui to Miami to educate, engage, and build equitable access to America's Entrepreneurship Ecosystem.

Coffee and Conversation with Tim Dossa

This month we’ll be discussing the latest developments with the Paycheck Protection Program – with Tim Dossa, a Certified Public Accountant and acting Business Consulting Manager at Glenn Burdette. Topics will include both the Second Draw Loans and on the First Round Forgiveness fronts.  In addition, we’ll explore the Employee Retention Credit and how it can be used along with the PPP loans.

SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will provide updates on a variety of government pandemic relief programs with a focus on the Paycheck Protection Program [PPP2] first-time and second-round applicants. He will be joined by special guest Celeste Young-Ramos, CEO of the Restaurant Success Center, a restaurant consulting firm that specializes in profitability and human resources management. Young-Ramos has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry.

America’s SBDCs Publish Annual Report after a Challenging Year

Serving more than half a million small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs in Fiscal Year 2020, America’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) rose to the occasion during a time of unprecedented challenges.

From the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, America’s SBDCs were on the job. Providing free, one-to-one business consulting and free or at-cost business training, SBDC consultants, trainers and staff helped America’s small businesses — and the communities they serve — adapt and survive.

California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Webinar

(December 2020)The California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant program is now open. The first round of grant applications were accepted from 12-30-2020 through 1-8-2021. The second round of applications will be from 2-2-2021 through 2-8-2021. In this webinar, SBDC host, Kelly Bearden discusses the nuts and bolts of the application process. Grants will be issued through a competitive process, NOT on a first-come, first-served basis.

(September 2020) Cara Cyre, CEO of Farm Supply, will join us this month to discuss her twenty-four year journey with the local farmer-owned cooperative. Cara began working for Farm Supply as a Cal Poly student, transitioned to Marketing Coordinator upon graduation, was promoted to V.P. of Communications, and named President / CEO in July 2017. Her career at Farm Supply has gifted her with an incredible story full of advice, wisdom and experience in regards to her career advancement within the company.
