    How to Get Your PPP Loan Forgiven

 Small business with a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan?  Learn how to get it forgiven!

A review and update on remaining government business relief programs with ideas for reopening strategies are among topics of this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.   

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will provide business reopening strategies and updates on remaining pandemic relief programs including the Employee Retention Tax Credit, Economic Injury Disaster Loan program (EIDL) with information on the reconsideration process for denied EIDL applications.  

An outlook at the future of oil production in Kern County and its potential impact on small businesses is among topics of this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield. 

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will be joined by Richard Chapman, president and CEO of the Kern Economic Development Corporation. Chapman will provide an outlook for the future of oil production in Kern County, the governor’s proposed ban on hydraulic fracturing in California, and the potential impact in the community and on small businesses.

The last year and half has been one of transformation for many businesses.  From completely closing the doors of their office or shop to slowly implementing new health and safety to adding new ways of delivering products and services to customers, the Covid-19 pandemic has altered the way people do business.  For most physical retail stores, navigating the pandemic has been one with many challenges, but as retail operations start to re-open their shops, many business owners are finding that the new ways of doing business, such as offering online shopping options, may be here to stay.

An economic outlook with local, regional, and national data important to small businesses is among the topics of this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.  

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden will be joined by Dr. S. Aaron Hegde, professor and chair of the economics department at CSUB, and Dr. Mark Evans, emeritus professor of economics and former associate dean at CSUB. They will provide an economic outlook for small businesses and discuss key current economic drivers such as inflation, jobs, and immigration.  

This event is tailored specifically for people who have experience in the restaurant, food truck, and food service industry, but little experience with intellectual property.  A USPTO trademark attorney will break down the basics and discuss:

• Intellectual property rights in general and how to use them to protect what makes your restaurant or food truck special
• Benefits of federal trademark registration
• Selecting a trademark that is registrable and protectable
• Filing and registration process
• How to find help

A frequently asked question is, “I need some help in learning how to write a proposal”.  In this presentation, we join the panel with Monterey Bay PTAC and will cover some basics about proposal writing and the steps to put into some best practices to prepare better proposals.  The goal is to take out much of the mystery of proposal writing and by learning some best practices making you feel more comfortable in putting together a winning proposal.
