Helping Your Business Start, Grow and Succeed

Tools and solutions to creating an effective strategic plan for small businesses and nonprofits are among topics of this week’s free webinar presented by the Small Business Development Center at CSU Bakersfield.

Host and SBDC director, Kelly Bearden is joined by consultant and author Eric Ryan, co-founder of Mission Met, a company that specializes in nonprofit strategic planning, training, and coaching. Ryan discusses five key barriers to overcome and solutions on how to create and execute an effective strategic plan. A veteran of more than 25 years in nonprofit strategic planning, Ryan has led hundreds of nonprofit strategic planning facilitations and consulting engagements throughout the U.S. Clients include the California State Parks Foundation, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Program, the City of Yreka, and many more.

Aaron Falk, President and CEO of the Kern Community Foundation (KCF) also joins Kelly. He discusses how many public and private organizations give money to and receive money from grantmakers and government, plus nonprofit strengthening tools available through KCF to local nonprofit organizations, many at no cost.

The webinar begins with Kelly providing updates on the upcoming Corporate Transparency Act and how it will affect nonprofits, and Central California weather-related disaster relief programs set to end by Dec. 31.

This marks the 301st episode of the weekly “Webinar Wednesday” business series that provides news and information helpful to employers and business owners.
