The UC Merced Small Business Development Center Regional Network (UCM SBDC), hosted by UC Merced, provides assistance to businesses in Central California with 14 counties making up the region: Fresno, Madera, Kern, Inyo, Mono, Tulare, Kings, San Luis Obispo, San Benito, Monterey, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Merced, Mariposa. UCM SBDC Regional Network covers an extremely large geographic area of 51,000 square miles.
Central California comprises two distinct sections: the San Joaquin Valley, located between Sierra Nevada Mountains and Tehachapi Mountains, and the Central Coast region. Service Centers hosted by the California State University system are: Fresno State, California State University, Bakersfield, California State University, Monterey Bay, and Cal Poly. The Alliance in Modesto is the one nonprofit. SBDC Service Centers utilize both employees and subcontractors as Business Consultants for client consulting and training. Business assistance also is available online through the UCM SBDC website and individual Service Center websites.
UCM SBDC is a nationally accredited program and one of six regional SBDC programs in California. The six regional California SBDCs work in partnership on issues involving the state of California. We are very fortunate to have outstanding host institutions as partners, to provide innovative solutions and sound business assistance throughout Central California. We want to help aspiring entrepreneurs turn their ideas into businesses, to help small businesses expand, and to provide the information necessary to help make sustainable business decisions.
